The Benefits of Buying a Regent Caravan
There are so many things to love about caravanning that it is easy to overlook the role that the caravan itself plays in your adventure. Caught up in the freedom and excitement offered by the open road, many people think that just having a caravan, any caravan, is what matters.
But how you get to your destination is as important as where you’re going, and if you’re towing your home behind you, it’s important to think about how it will benefit your lifestyle. In this article, we’re going to explore some of the benefits of buying a Regent caravan and what’s made us one of the most well-loved brands in Australian caravanning for more than 30 years.
Luxury Without the Luxury Price Tag
When you buy a Regent caravan, you get luxury without the luxury price tag. While people will have different ideas about the price threshold for a ‘luxury’ model, it is accepted (and widely seen) in the caravan industry that luxury caravans start at six figures. By contrast, our most feature-packed caravan, the RCC226F, has an RRP of just $90,490.
With this, Regent customers get a level of finish and attention to detail that puts other manufacturers to shame. Sumptuously styled, stepping inside a Regent caravan is like entering a hotel on wheels, with modern appliances, sleek cabinetry, leather upholstery, and luxurious amenities that include a full-sized kitchen (with fridge, oven and cooktop), an island bed, and bathroom (with a separate shower, toilet and washing machine) in every model.
But as anyone will know, the greatest luxury you can have on the road is space, and Regent caravans offer that in spades.
Space to Live
Whether you’re a young family making your first memories together or a couple enjoying your retirement, Regent caravans offer ample space to unwind and enjoy your adventure in comfort and peace. In addition to the spacious kitchen and bathrooms mentioned above, Regent caravans allow you to relax over a meal and even entertain friends in your choice of a dinette or club lounge.
But where you’ll truly appreciate the space that a Regent offers is in our Cruiser range. With the addition of a slide-out compartment for either the bed or dining area, the Cruiser range opens up more living space than you would have thought possible. Take the RCC220, for instance, where the entire front section of the caravan is devoted to an enormous club lounge, creating the ultimate place to unwind at the end of a day’s journey or enjoy a drink with new friends.
Equally, the RCC226F makes feeding the family a breeze thanks to its large, U-shaped club lounge, conveniently positioned in the slide-out compartment to create a central hub for parents and kids to sit down for dinner together, just like you would at home.
History & Tradition
Despite the modern feel of our brand, Regent is actually one of the oldest names in the caravan industry. Founded in Melbourne in 1991, we’ve been designing and manufacturing caravans in Australia for over 30 years, and many of our older models are still on the road today.
With that history comes knowledge and experience that has allowed us to keep our brand at the cutting-edge of the caravan industry, while developing a reputation for quality that can’t be matched. When you buy a Regent caravan, you’re not just buying a name: you’re buying a story, and a tradition that has helped Australians make lifelong memories for more than three decades.
Reliability
When you’ve been building caravans for 30+ years, you get pretty good at it, and along with our reputation for quality, Regent caravans are known for their reliability – meaning you spend more time adventuring, instead of waiting around for repairs.
But we don’t just build caravans to last, we also back them with a 5-year structural warranty and a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty, so you can have total peace of mind knowing that you’re covered if something does go wrong.
And if it does, help is never far away: with more than 40 service agents spread throughout Australia, you can get your Regent repaired and back on the road, no matter where you are.
Cutting-Edge Modern Construction
For decades, caravans in Australia have been built with a stick-and-tin construction method that involved attaching tin or aluminium cladding to a wooden frame. While this method is reliable and still widely-used in the industry, stick-and-tin caravans are also heavy, cumbersome and prone to damage and rot if water gets underneath the aluminium.
For these reasons, we changed how we build our caravans in 2021, and now use a full-composite sandwich panel construction method across all of our caravans. This method is incredibly durable, and involves bonding vinyl to a 3mm-thick fibreglass skin that is attached to a fully-welded extruded aluminium frame, with 30mm of XPS insulating foam in between. The diagram below shows a cross-section of this method.
In addition to its durability, this method offers several advantages for owners over a traditional stick-and-tin approach.
Regent Caravans Are Lighter & More Fuel-Efficient
As you would expect, replacing a heavy wooden frame and thick metal cladding with foam, fibreglass and lightweight aluminium results in significant weight savings that reduces your fuel consumption and ultimately saves you money.
Regent Caravans Are More Durable & Weather-Resistant
The other main advantage of composite sandwich panel construction is that it makes caravans more durable and weather resistant, especially when it comes to rain. In addition to being far less rigid than an aluminium frame (and thus, less stable when you’re towing them) traditional stick-and-tin vans have hundreds of joins, rivets and screws holding them together, all of which create possible openings for water ingress.
Because Regent caravans are assembled from ‘one-piece’ fibreglass panels, the result is a nearly seamless exterior that presents far fewer openings for wind and rain to get inside the caravan. In turn, the aluminium frame cannot rot if it gets wet – a major problem with wood-framed caravans and one that has caused major headaches for thousands of owners over the years.
Regent Caravans Are Cheaper To Maintain
All of this means that Regent caravans are cheaper to maintain than traditionally built stick-and-tin vans. Gone are the days of leaky vans and rotting frames: when a Regent gets wet, you don’t have to worry if that water is slowly working its way inside and eating away at the bones of your pride and joy.
The Benefits of the Regent Cruiser range
The Cruiser range is comprised of four models (RCC206, RCC216, RCC220 & RCC226F) of slide-out caravans. As slide-out models, the main benefit of the Regent Cruiser range is the additional space that it offers – whether that is space to eat and entertain, or rest and relax.
For this reason, the Cruiser range tends to be favoured by couples and families who are travelling full-time and require the extra space, although it is equally well-suited to those that want to add a touch of luxury to their long weekend getaways.
The Cruiser range features one family model, the RCC226F, with a choice of single, double or triple fixed bunks at the rear of the caravan – perfect for a growing family or when the kids want to bring a friend on holiday.
The Benefits of the Regent Discoverer range
The Discoverer range is comprised of five models (RDC196, RDC206, RDC210, RDC210F, RDC236) and is well-suited for families, couples and first-time caravan owners alike. The Discoverer range takes a simpler approach to its floor plan, and although it lacks the slide-outs of the Cruiser range, it retains all the features and amenities that we are famous for.
However, the upside of the Discoverer range‘s simplified design is that it is easier to tow and easier to set up, making it perfect for first-time owners that just want to hitch up and hit the road for a long weekend.
Like the Cruiser series, the Discoverer range features one family model, the RDC210F. Measuring in at 21-feet long, the RDC210F is slightly shorter than its Cruiser counterpart, the RDC210F offers incredible functionality for a young family, with a choice of single, double or triple bunks, in addition to the standard Regent features and amenities.
With an island queen bed, full-sized kitchen and ensuite bathroom, the Discoverer range boasts all the comforts and convenience of home, and provides endless options to explore Australia the way you want to.
