Regent Caravans was formed in November 1991.
The company was then owned by a man who made caravans his passion and developed Regent into a well-known Australian brand. Unfortunately, the owner passed away and the company went into voluntary liquidation early of 2012. Caravans Australia went on to purchase Regent Caravans, which was manufactured alongside other brands such as Legacy and Bailey. In 2015, Chinese-owned Zhejiang Daide Longcui Automobile Co., Ltd. (Daide Auto, Longtree); a subsidiary of New Gonow Group bought Regent Caravans and set about expanding the product offering with new designs and concepts.
From 2015 to 2020, Regent remained an 100% Australian made product, built in the Somerton factory. After much research and planning, Regent caravans concluded that full composite sandwich panel construction methods are the future of the RV industry. So rather than continue to build timber vans, a strategic decision was made to move a portion of the manufacturing content to the parent company, start-of-the-art facility just south of Shanghai.
